Switching Without Losing Mail

  • Tell us what you have now

    A free account, a host that throws in email, an old server nobody maintains. Where it is coming from decides how the move goes, so we ask before we quote it.

  • We build the new mailboxes first

    Both run side by side for a while. Nothing gets switched off until the new one is receiving.

  • The domain changes hands last

    The mail records flip when everything else is ready. That flip takes a while to reach everybody, and it happens at a time you pick.

  • Old mail comes across where it can

    There is a bulk migration tool for moving an existing archive over. How completely it works depends on the provider you are leaving, and we will tell you which kind yours is before you commit.

Will I lose the email I already have?
No, as long as you tell us where it is before anything moves. The old account keeps working through the switch, and there is a migration tool for bringing the archive across.
Can I keep my free address too?
Yes. Plenty of people run both for a while, or forever. The business address is the one that goes on the van and the invoices.
How many mailboxes do I need?
One per person who needs to send as themselves. An address that only has to land in somebody else's inbox can be a forwarding address instead, which costs a lot less.
Do I need a website to have this?
No. You need a domain. The website is a separate decision and you can make it later, or never.
Do you read my email?
No. We can create a mailbox, delete one, and reset a password when somebody is locked out. Reading what is in it is not something we do.
Where do I manage the mailboxes?
At shop.internetcrafters.com. That login is separate from the client portal, which trips people up, so our sign-in page spells out which is which.
