Who owns it

You Buy It Here. You Still Own It.

The reason a lot of small businesses end up stuck is that somebody helpful registered the domain on their own account years ago. Then that person changes jobs, and the business finds out it does not have the keys to its own name.

So we do it the other way round.

  • The domain is registered to you with your name and your email on the record, not ours.
  • You can move it out whenever you like to any registrar you want. We will unlock it and hand you the code.
  • The website files are yours the same as they have always been. Hosting with us does not change that.

Nobody has to stay because leaving is inconvenient.

Why Not Just Buy It Anywhere?

You can. Domains are a commodity and anybody will sell you one. What you cannot buy at a checkout is somebody who knows which record to change when the site is live and the email stops arriving.

We are also not the cheapest. A domain costs less at the discount registrars, and what that price leaves out is a person on a phone. The registrar behind ours staffs real support, we pay for it, and it shows up in what we charge.

The morning your email stops arriving is when that stops being an abstraction.

Domain and Hosting Questions

Do I have to be a website client?
No. Anyone can buy a domain, a mailbox or hosting from us. There is no setup fee and nothing you have to buy first.
I already have a domain somewhere else. Do I have to move it?
No. Leave it where it is and we will work with it. Moving it over is an option, not a condition.
What if I want to leave?
You take the domain with you. We unlock it, give you the transfer code, and that is the end of it. The website files are yours either way.
Can you move my existing email over?
Usually, yes. How smoothly depends on where it is coming from, so tell us what you have now and we will tell you what the move looks like before you commit to it.
Do I need hosting from you if you built my site?
No. Our sites are static files and they run on plenty of hosts. Buying hosting here is for people who would rather have one bill and one phone number than shop for it.
Where do I manage all this once I have bought it?
At shop.internetcrafters.com, which is a separate login from the client portal. Our sign-in page explains which account is which.
