  • A site we built you

    Static files, which is why they load the way they do. No database and no admin login, so there is nothing to patch and nothing for a bot to guess. This is the one we want you on.

  • A WordPress site

    It gets a proper home instead of whatever it is sitting on now. Guided migration to bring it across, SFTP and database access when something needs a hand, backups running on their own, and a draft mode so you can check every page before anything points at it.

  • Patched, for as long as you run it

    Core, theme and plugin updates are the rent you pay for running WordPress, and skipping them is how these sites get defaced. That is $49 a month with basic hosting included. Your domain and your email are priced separately.

  • Not sure which you have

    Send us the address. We can tell in about ten seconds, and we will say so plainly, including if the answer is that you should stay where you are.

Hosting Questions

Do I have to host with you if you build my site?
No, and we will not make it awkward. You own the files and we will hand them over with instructions for wherever you are going.
Most of this site argues against WordPress. Why host it?
Two reasons. Some businesses genuinely need a CMS, and we would rather set it up properly than talk them out of the right tool. The rest have a WordPress site that works and no appetite for replacing it yet, and leaving that on a host who never patches anything helps nobody.
Do I need a maintenance plan for WordPress?
You need somebody doing the updates, whether that is us or you. A WordPress site nobody updates is the most common way a small business gets hacked. Ours is $49 a month and includes basic hosting along with the core, theme and plugin updates. It does not cover content edits, because you can make those yourself in WordPress, and it does not cover your domain or your email.
What happens if the site goes down?
You call or write and a person looks at it. We are a small business, so you get somebody who knows your site rather than a ticket queue.
Can I host a site you didn't build?
Usually. Send us a link and we will tell you straight away whether it fits and what moving it looks like.
Can I not host a static site for free somewhere?
You can, and for years we told clients exactly that. If you are comfortable with a deploy pipeline, go and do it. What you buy here is not the disk space. It is that when a form stops arriving or a certificate looks wrong, there is a number and a person on the end of it. That is also why we are not the cheapest.
Where do I see my hosting bill?
At shop.internetcrafters.com, alongside any domains and mailboxes. It is a separate login from the client portal, and our sign-in page explains which one is yours.
